On God's Time

I've decided it's been an appropriate amount of time to wait until posting again...continuing in my tradition of blog disapproval, particularly those who blog daily saying nothing. So at least I'm blogging weekly saying nothing....GREEEAAAAATT

anyway, I'd like to take a moment to talk about snow. I like it. It makes everything pretty. yes, it makes roads dangerous, but dad plows snow so I've never been afraid of that. In fact, I generally embrace the opportunity to ride along (esp when I knew I'd have a "cookie" day the next day *in case you didn't know, saying "snow" jynxes it, so we had to say "cookie" there's also a rumor about wearing your pajamas inside out...I just listened to Alvin and the Chipmunks "I love a Rainy Night" and let God take care of the rest*) My college experience with snow has not been much different. I had the great fortune freshman year to witness Ithaca College's first snow day in a decade. There was a lot. It was cool. Sophomore year brought very creative ice sculptures in the commons and interesting, but entertaining things written in the snow. This year is no disappointment, from a pair of snowmen on the bench in the quad to a snowball fight crazy late the night before Fordfest (or to those who don't consider themselves "whalen-ites" the last day of classes) to walking home from working till 2AM tonight and having the few inches of fresh powder massage my feet through my thin rubber soles. (don't worry, I wasn't cold and yes, I was wearing socks).

Anyhow, I wanted to share. Hopefully my appreciation of the little things will be a theme in my blogging that will carry on to anyone who spends their time reading it :-)

Now, to explain "On God's Time". It seems like a "duh" kind of thing, but what it reminds me of is the only tattoo I would get were I ever to get a tattoo (don't worry mom & dad, I'm not considering it). BUT it is a neat idea. ANYWAY- on the retreat two weekends ago my friend for whom this was her candidate year said (after we took all watches and cell phones) "I'm going to keep looking at my wrist even though nothing is there" so I said we should write God's name there so that's what you're thinking about instead of what time it is. She lamentably had to leave the retreat for a concert so could not draw anything on her wrist, so instead i drew a watch on mine, but with a blank face that said "God" cause despite this demanding-schedule world we're living in we're still on God's time and only when we remember that can we keep a God-centered life

I've gotta say, finals week is cracking up to be my best week of the semester. No crazy amounts of classes or rehearsals or concerts or deadlines. Just stuff I need to get done that I have time to take getting it done...and I have been! it's pretty awesome. Yes there have been a few finals, but the first two went well, the Jury is tomorrow which is never something to be worried about, and German is friday. I'm spending the extra time on Christmas presents and moving up to my new apartment on campus for next semester :-)

I pray everyone has safe travels throughout the next few weeks.

  1. What a powerful illustration! That's really insightful! I'm so happy to hear of your spiritual progress. You're really maturing wonderfully, and I'm proud of how active you are in your Protestant community. Thanks so much for posting this Beth. Keep updating!
